In line with the aim to involve learners from around the world and support their emergence as advocates in the field of education, this year, the WISE Learners’ Voice Program has been mobilizing the 2011 generation of WISE Learners to work collaboratively on the theme “Increasing Access to Education through Innovation”.
In 2012, WISE Learners have been attending major international events including the eLearning Africa conference in Benin, the Technology in Higher Education (THE) Conference in Qatar, the India Youth Forum and the World Literacy Summit in the UK. They have been interviewing personalities, networking with other learners and experts from the education world and attending sessions to achieve a deeper understanding of the challenges facing education.
WISE Learners’ Voice is also organizing study trips for Learners to visit some of the WISE Awards winning projects to help them gain practical understanding and experience from educational pioneers, and to support the research on the chosen theme.
The first destination is Casablanca in Morocco. WISE Learners Adel M. Saad Adem and Mohammed Al-Jaberi are currently on-site for a week to visit the School Business Partnerships project, a 2011 WISE Awards Winner. The Learners will meet Mr. Andaloussi, the project holder, several students who have created junior companies, as well as representatives of private companies that have adopted schools in the country. They will also visit urban and rural primary schools that have been supported by the program, as well as non-adopted schools, in order to compare and measure the impact of the program.
Stay informed on further research trips through the WISE website and read more about their activities on Twitter, Facebook, and on the Learners’ blog.
From June 1, 2012, the Program will also be inviting an additional 30 outstanding young learners to join this growing global community. To find out more about the recruitment process, visit the WISE website.
