Dr. Asmaa Al-Fadala
Dr. Asmaa Al-Fadala is Director of Research and Content Development at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE). She has twenty years of professional experience in schools as well as higher education. Dr. Al-Fadala was an Associate Policy Analyst at the RAND-Qatar Policy Institute and a Research Assistant at the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). Previously, she was Head of the Science Department and Professional Development Coordinator at a new independent school in Qatar. She also taught physics at a Ministry of Education school.
She has served at Qatar University as an Assistant Professor of Educational Sciences at the College of Education, as well as Assistant Professor of Education at Georgetown University in Qatar.
Dr. Al-Fadala holds a PhD and MPhil from Cambridge University, UK. Her doctoral research in Educational Leadership and Policy Implementation focused on the management of educational reform in Qatar. This involved undertaking in-depth case studies of schools impacted by the reforms, examining how school leaders were managing change and the challenges of implementing effective measures to enhance student outcomes. Dr. Al-Fadala received her Masters degree in Education Sciences from Brighton University, UK.
Dr. Al-Fadala is the author of ‘K-12 Reform in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (GCC): Challenges and Policy Recommendations’, published by WISE, Qatar Foundation (2015). She is a member of the Comparative International Education Society (CIES), and the British Educational Research Association (BERA). She is also a Visiting Fellow at the University of Northwestern in the US. Dr Alfadala has participated in numerous conferences in Qatar and internationally, both as a featured panelist and moderator.
